Project Engineer - TSS

The role

PMB Defence is seeking a highly motivated and proactive Project Engineer to join its multi-disciplinary Engineering team. The role will support PMB’s lead-acid engineering team, which provides engineering services for the manufacture, development, and in-service use of lead acid batteries for submarine applications. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing data analysis of in-service and test data of submarine battery systems
  • Developing and maintaining software analysis tools
  • Contributing engineering recommendations on areas of improvement and supporting the execution of the recommendations
  • Participating in new project development activities including software development primarily using C, C++ and Python, as well as software design and code reviews
  • Providing consulting services to the end customer, for example diagnosis reports, engineering solutions and training.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering, preferably in Electronic/Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic; or Computer Science.
  • Demonstrated experience performing data analysis and maintaining and developing software tools (familiar with Linux, Python, InfluxDB, Grafana)
  • Hands on ability to define and execute test programs
  • Fault finding skills, with exposure to industrial electrical systems is desirable
  • Enjoying working as part of a supportive team to meet team objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems in a logical and methodical manner
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect with a broad audience from technical subject matter experts to submarine crew members
  • Passion for continuous improvement, proactive in identifying technical issues and developing solutions

Pre-requisites

  • Ability and willingness to conduct occasional physical work in a confined space
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and Drug & Alcohol screen, and undertake six monthly lead in blood testing
  • Australian citizenship is mandatory, and an existing, or ability to gain an NV1 Australian Defence Security clearance

Project Engineer - LAE

About the role

PMB Defence is seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer for a newly created role in our multi-disciplinary Engineering team. The role will support PMB’s lead acid engineering team and will contribute to the delivery and support of PMB’s suite of battery system products for diesel-electric and nuclear powered submarines. The key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Project Manager in managing the planning, execution, and closeout of major projects, and/or managing one or more minor projects under the guidance of the Project Manager.
  • Contributing to the development and upkeep of project scope, schedule, cost, and risk & opportunity management artefacts.
  • Producing project reporting and metrics for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Providing technical support to internal and external stakeholders in the project engineer’s tertiary engineering field.
  • Execution of allocated tasks in the project engineer’s tertiary engineering field.
  • Supporting Product Support personnel in the management of lead-acid product configuration baselines.
  • Actively contributing to the safety culture of PMB Defence.
  • Other engineering tasks as required.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, preferably in Electronic/Electrical or similar.
  • Tertiary qualifications or relevant experience in project management.
  • Demonstrated experience with ASDEFCON format and a general knowledge of submarine systems and/or exposure to the naval defence environment would be highly regarded but not essential.
  • Fault finding skills, particularly with high power electrical systems and power conversion equipment would be desirable.
  • An understanding of electrical storage and charge/discharge systems would be desirable.
  • Experience in Computer Aided Design (CAD) would be desirable.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Someone who enjoys working as part of a small, supportive team to meet team objectives.
  • Able to solve problems and identify practical/innovative technical solutions.
  • An excellent communicator with the ability to connect with a broad audience from technical subject matter experts to submarine crew members.
  • Able to demonstrate solid time management, capacity for multi-tasking, and initiative.

 Pre-requisites

  • Ability and willingness to conduct occasional physical work in a confined space.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and Drug & Alcohol screen and undertake six monthly lead in blood testing.
  • Australian citizenship is mandatory, and an existing, or ability to gain an NV1 Australian Defence Security clearance.
  • Have a current driver’s licence and be eligible to obtain a police clearance.

To support the next phase of PMB Defence’s journey, an exciting new part time role now exists for an experienced Network Administrator looking to be part of our family. Reporting to the IT Manager and operating within a small IT team this role will support the wider business by providing technology services and bridging the gap between the Helpdesk and Senior Network Administrator.

Production Worker – Multiple Vacancies

IT Helpdesk Operator

About the role

To support the next phase of PMB Defence’s journey, an opportunity now exists for an IT Helpdesk Administrator to be part of our family. Reporting to the IT Manager and operating within a small IT team, this role will support the wider business and is responsible for customer contact, Level 1 issue resolution, and performing tasks at the direction of the Senior Network Administrator and IT Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional looking to kickstart or further their career in the defence sector with an Adelaide based business.  Key responsibilities will include (but aren’t limited to):

  • Responding to queries via chat, email, or phone.
  • Entering incident / issues into ticketing system.
  • Continually updating tickets and registries.
  • Ensuring SLA’s are met.
  • Training other staff members on troubleshooting and diagnosing problems.
  • Providing technical assistance for questions and problems where appropriate and escalating tickets where necessary.
  • Resolving problems with networks and other computer systems.
  • Diagnosing system errors and other issues.
  • Following up with customers to ensure full resolution of issues.
  • Requesting feedback and/or monitoring calls and other methods of correspondence to improve training methods.
  • Running reports to analyse common complaints and problems.
  • Installing or changing software to fix issues.

    • Familiarity with both PC systems and Apple Mobile Device Hardware & their respective Operating Systems.
